Willy Linder was a Swiss economist, business journalist and TV-moderator, which he used to champion neoliberalism He attended the 1977 Bilderberg conference, where one of the subjects was North American and Western European attitudes towards the future of the mixed economies in the Western democracies.

Education

Linder studied economics at the University of Zurich, the Sorbonne in Paris and the London School of Economics, and took his doctorate in Zurich in 1954.

Career

In 1954 he joined the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) as a business editor. In 1972 he became department head at the paper. During his time at the NZZ, he represented an economically liberal course. From 1971 to 1977 he was a private lecturer and then associate professor for Swiss economics at the University of Zurich. From 1988 to 1993 he was head of the Swiss Institute for International Research. He was also a member of the Federal Cartel Commission. Linder campaigned for economic change in the People's Republic of China. He also hosted a television show.
