DescriptionHollywood endorsed "artistic exhibition", set up in opposition to the presidency of Donald Trump. which was trolled. An infamous event in internet history.

He Will Not Divide Us (HWNDU pronounced "windoo") was an event started in January 2017 to oppose Donald Trump. It was described as "performance art", and was lead by Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf.

A camera was placed on an outside wall in New York City, and people were encouraged to stand in front of the camera and say "He Will Not Divide Us". The camera was filming on a 24 hour livestream.

People from 4Chan turned up to joke and troll on the livestream. Trump supporters were accused of sabotage.

Originally in New York City, the project spread to other cities, though unsuccessfully.

The CCM labelled all the people who trolled as "neo-nazis"" and "white supremacists".

Beginning

At 9 a.m. on January 20, 2017, HEWILLNOTDIVIDE.US was launched. It was described as a participatory performance installation to coincide with the inauguration of Donald Trump as United States President. A camera was set up on a wall outside the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City, with the words "He Will Not Divide Us" written directly above. Passers by were invited to deliver these words into the camera "as many times, and for as long as they wish," in what the artists described as "a show of resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community." The footage was live-streamed on a 24/7 feed, which the artists announced would run for four years, or the duration of Trump's presidency. Jaden Smith was one of the earliest participants in the project

Trolling

Best Troll Moments from HWNDU. Over 1 million views on YouTube.

Lots of people went to New York specifically to troll and have fun. The MSM called those who trolled "far right extremists".[1]

The obscure Italo-disco 80s song, Shadilay was played to troll.

BuzzFeed labelled the trolls as "Trump Supporters and Neo-Nazis", portraying 4chan as being a safe haven for extremists[2]

Streamer Brittany Venti made a number of appearances, trolling the crowd.[3] She later called it the greatest Reality TV show of all time.[4]

“The Jewish word for "division" or "to divide" is Soros. #NoSoros #Shadilay”
Brittany Venti (January 2017)  [5] (New York City)
This was part of a joke speech she made to troll in front of the camera.

Some Trump supporters played "capture the flag", in which they removed the HWNDU flag and replaced it with a MAGA one.[6]

In Liverpool, England, the exhibition was removed after "illegal trespassing".[7] [8]

The exhibit went to a museum in Lapland, Finland, and was trolled. The museum told the BBC that they have don't tolerate harassment and hate speech.

There are a number of videos on the HWNDU DOCUMENTARY YouTube channel.[9]

Those who criticised LaBeouf were accused of antisemitism.

Official narrative

Wikipedia says the exhibit had become a target for confrontations by neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and 4chan trolls.
