Coenraad Jan (Coen) Oort was a Dutch economist, and member of the Bilderberg Steering committee.

His father was the well-known astronomer Jan Hendrik Oort.

Education

He took degrees at the University of Leiden and the university of Chicago.[1]

Career

He became Head of parliamentary and Financial Affairs Ministry of Economic Affairs 1958.[1]

He became a Professor of economics at Utrecht University in 1960. He was treasurer-general at the Ministry of Finance from 1971 to 1977.

Oort was chairman of the committee named after him, which in 1990 was responsible for a revision of the Dutch income tax.

Oort was a Member of the Board of Algemene Bank Nederland N.V.
