Winter has a degree in corporate law from the University of Groningen from 1991[1].

Career

From 1991 to 2013 he worked at the law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, advising corporate clients, including [[Unilever][2], and institutional investors on matters of corporate law and corporate governance. He advised clients in other EU jurisdictions on matters of EU corporate law.[1]

Since 2001 Jaap Winter has been actively engaged in shaping the corporate governance systems in Europe and the Netherlands.

He was chairman of the High Level Group of Company Law Experts set up in 2001 by the European Commission to advise it on a new regulatory framework for company law in Europe.
