Barry Seal was an ace pilot and a drug smuggler of such proportions that he has been called "the biggest drug smuggler in American History".[1] In this capacity, he worked for both the CIA and Pablo Escobar.[2] He was assassinated in 1986, a hit rumoured to have been ordered by George H. W. Bush, whose personal telephone number was found on seal's body.[1]

Background
Gerry Hemming claims that Barry Seal was a member of covert CIA hit squad, Operation 40 in the early 1960s. Hemming told Daniel Hopsicker: "Yeah, Barry was Op 40. He flew in killer teams inside the island (Cuba) before the invasion to take out Fidel."[3] Daniel Hopsicker has claimed that "Barry Seal flew a getaway plane out of Dallas after JFK was killed."[4][5]
1972 Arrest and Consequent Mistrial
On 1st July, 1972 in New Orleans, Barry Seal was arrested together with James Miller, Richmond Harper, Marlon Hagler and Murray Kessler. They were accused of sending C4 explosives to anti-Castro Cubans in Mexico. A DC-4 was seized at the Shreveport Regional Airport loaded with almost seven tons of plastic C-4 explosives, 7,000 feet of explosive primer cord and 2,600 electric blasting caps. The DC-4 was owned by James Boy, a known CIA associate. Boy's aircraft were later used to fly Oliver North's mercenaries in and out of Honduras. The man who organized the entrapment of Seal and his friends was Cesario Diosdado, an official with the United States Customs.
Nearly two years later, in June, 1974, Seal was brought to trial. However, government prosecutors promptly introduced into evidence an automatic weapon that was unrelated to the charges against the defendants, resulting in a mistrial. Seal and his fellow defendants were released.[6]
Iran-Contra
Barry Seal flew C-123 military cargo planes filled with cocaine into Mena, Arkansas as part of the Iran-Contra affair. He was defended in this connection by Richard Ben-Veniste.[7] He was probably in charge of a team of pilots, including Emile Camp (who died in a plane crash in 1985, having witnessed a lot of Seal's business dealings).[8]
Money Laundering
Al Martin states that "Barry Seal was extensively involved in all manner of fraud. His principal partner was after all, Larry Hamil. Hamil had an equal relationship with Barry Seal. Barry provided seed money to set up fraudulent oil and gas and real estate limited partnerships for Hamil. Hamil later profited from them. Hamil would allow Barry to use these limited partnerships for Barry to launder his money through. It was a laundry situation. Barry would provide the seed money perhaps a million dollars or whatever to establish a fraudulent limited partnership, then Barry would use that limited partnership to launder money in lieu of a fee. That was his return." Al Martin states that the money was laundered though 30 Day Corporations, which could be set up for just $10, and at the end of 30 days, if they weren't converted to full corporations, all records would be erased after a further 45 days.[9]
1984 arrest
"In December 1984, Seal was arrested in Louisiana after flying in a cargo of marijuana. After paying a $250,000 bond, Seal was released and returned to drug smuggling."[6]
As part of his plea agreement, Seal was not to receive any jail time, but when the CIA did not show up at his trial to provide testimony of his work with the CIA, Seal was found guilty of two drug felony convictions in December 1985 and sentenced to 6 months of public service under supervised probation. A condition of the sentence was that he had to spend every night, from 6.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m., at the Salvation Army halfway house on Baton Rouge's Airline Highway strip. Judge Polozola barred him from carrying a gun or hiring armed guards. Barry Seal told his friends "they made me a clay pigeon".[6]
Assassination
On February 19, 1986, during his period of enforced unarmed confinement in the Salvation Army halfway house on Baton Rouge's Airline Highway strip (U.S. 61), Barry Seal was gunned down.
Official Narrative
The official narrative is that Seal gunned down by Colombians in a Medellin cartel hit while working outside a Salvation Army facility. His location was predictable due to a court order which limited his movements.[2]
Alternative Explanation
Robert Morrow reports that Seal’s lawyer Lewis Unglesby stated that Barry Seal was threatening to testify against Vice President George Herbert Walker Bush if Bush didn't move to get the IRS off his back. Morrow suggests that Seal knew too much, so George H. W. Bush arranged to have him killed. Bush's personal phone number was found on Seal's body.[1][10]
