Austrian minister who declared it was illegal to live in Austria and not to be Covid jabbed.

Karoline Edtstadler is an Austrian lawyer and politician who with barely disguised glee stated it was "actually illegal to live in Austria and not to be vaccinated".

Career

From 2017 until 2019, Edtstadler worked as secretary of state in the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, in the government of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.[1][2]

In 2019 she was elected to the European Parliament. As Member of the European Parliament, she sat on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and on the Subcommittee on Human Rights.

Since 2020, Edtstadler was minister for the EU and the Constitution at the Austrian Chancellery in the government of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.

In 2022, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres selected Edtstadler to sit on his inaugural Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Leadership Panel.[3]

Activities

Edtstadler was Minister for the Constitution when Austria introduced mandatory Covid jabs in 2021, to start with enforced with fines of several thousand euros.

According to her,

“If the penalty is not paid, exactly what usually happens if you do not pay a penalty will happen: "Then at some point the executor will stand at the door and collect the fine. In the end, the cuckoo comes when they can't pay it – but that would really be the escalation stage," says Edtstadler. In addition to the hefty fines, vaccine refusers also risk their jobs. According to the minister, a termination for the unvaccinated is "probably possible". "With the introduction of compulsory vaccination, it is actually illegal to live in Austria and not to be vaccinated. And other consequences can also arise from this.”
Karoline Edtstadler (11 December 2021)  [4]
Austrian Minister for the Constitution
