Dr Thanos M. Veremis (Θάνος Βερέμης) is a Greek historian and political scientist. He attended the Bilderberg/1993 and Bilderberg/1999 as Director and President of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy.
Education
He was born in Athens. He studied Political Science at Boston University and history at Oxford University (Trinity College).
Career
From 1977 he was curator at the chair of Modern Greek history at the then Panteion School of Political Sciences. In the 1980s he was a visiting researcher and visiting professor at Harvard, Princeton and Oxford universities.
In 1987 he became professor of Political History at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens, from 2010 professor emeritus[1]. He was director (1988-1994) and President (1994-2000) of the Hellenic Foundation for European and foreign policy (Eliamep).[2] He was professor at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, 2001-2003).[3]
In 2006, as president of the National Council of Education (ESYP), he submitted a draft law, in which he proposed a large number of administrative, scientific and political reforms.[4] He was re-elected to the position of President of the National Board of Education in 2008.[5]
He is a founding member of the political party "Action", and for a time was a member of the governing committee.[6][7] In April 2012, he announced his intention to run for the 1st Athens constituency, ahead of the 2012 Greek parliamentary elections.[8] In March 2014, he announced his candidacy as a municipal councilor of Athens.[9]
He is the nephew of the politician and former prime minister Panagiotis Kanellopoulos.[10]

In 2008 he was the historical collaborator of the documentaries "We the Greeks" and "Great Greeks" of Skai TV station. He reappeared in 2011 as a historical consultant-in collaboration with Iakovos Michaelides - in the television documentary "1821", while he did scientific supervision of the radio documentary "1821" in collaboration with Athanasia Hatzi.[11] At about the same time he was the historical advisor to the television documentary "Battles of the Greeks" and the subsequent debate..[12]
