Marta Dassù was general director of the international activities of Aspen Institute Italy until November 2011, as well as being director of the foreign policy magazine Aspenia.
In 2020, Dassù was appointed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to join a group of experts to support his work in a reflection process to further strengthen NATO's political dimension.[1]
Career
Between 1998 and 2001 she was foreign policy adviser to the Prime Minister in the D'Alema I government, D'Alema II government and the Amato II government. In 2006-2008 she led the Strategic Reflection Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She was director of the Center for Istituto Affari Internazionali, on the Scientific Committee of the industry association Confindustria and is a member of the Italy USA Foundation. She writes as a columnist in various big corporate newspapers and periodicals including Corriere della Sera and Il Sole 24 ORE. From November 2010 she collaborates with La Stampa, and from 15 May 2020 she begins to work with Repubblica.
On November 28, 2011 she was appointed undersecretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Monti government. On March 27, 2013 she was appointed deputy foreign minister together with her colleague Staffan de Mistura.
On 3 May the following year she was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs under Minister Emma Bonino in the Letta Government.
She is a member of the Trilateral Commission and the executive committee of the Aspen Institute.
She is currently part of the scientific committee of the LUISS School of Government in Rome.
