Leif Valdemar Johansson is a Swedish businessman who was President and CEO of the Volvo Group from 1997 to 2011, and is Chairman of Ericsson since 2011 and Non-executive Chairman of AstraZeneca plc since June 2012.[1]

Insider Trading?

Leif Johansson made a big stock purchase shortly before Cevian Capital bought a major stock holding in Ericsson[2], where Johansson was Chairman of the Board. Johansson bought Ericsson shares for SEK 2 million just under three weeks before the fund stepped in as the new major shareholder. According to the Swedish financial regulator's transparency register, Leif Johansson bought 35,000 B shares in the telecommunications company on 12 May. Prior to the acquisition, he owned 109,000 Series B shares. Already in March, Ericsson's management received information about Cevian's plans.[3][4]

Resigned from Ericsson

The telecommunications company has been in crisis for a long time, with CEO Hans Vestberg stepping down in 2016. Leif Johansson chose not to stand for re-election at the Annual General Meeting in 2018, a move some analysts interpreted as him being fired[5].
