Attack upon seasteaders
In 2019, Chad Elwartowski and Nadia Summergirl set up a small seastead 13 miles off the coast of Thailand. The Thai navy raided it. Now in hiding they were told they might face the death penalty for violating Thai sovereignty.[1]
Prostitution
In 1957, at the start of the Vietnam War, it is estimated that there were between 18,000 and 20,000 prostitutes in Thailand. After opening seven military bases, the US army invested $16,000,000 in the Thai economy annually. In 1964, the number of prostitutes had grown to 400,000.
