Assassination
Politkovskaya was gunned down in front of her apartment on 7 October 2006. As of 2016 Wikipedia reports that in June 2014 five men were sentenced to prison for the assassination, but it is still unclear who ordered or paid for the killing. She also reportedly felt “ill after drinking some tea that she believed contained poison”.[1]
