Dr. Jürgen Friedrich Strube was Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the chemical giant BASF AG. He attended the 1994 and 1996 Bilderberg meeting.

Education

Strube was born in Bochum in 1939. He studied law from 1960 to 1964 in Freiburg, Geneva and Munich, obtained his doctorate in law in Munich in 1967, and passed the 2nd state examination in law in 1968. [1]

Career

He began his professional career at BASF in 1969. After working in Belgium, Germany and Brazil, he was appointed a member of the Executive Board in 1985, initially based in New Jersey, from 1988 in Ludwigshafen, Germany Two years later he was appointed chairman of the board. After leaving the Executive Board in 2003, Strube was elected to the Supervisory Board of BASF, which he chaired until the end of April 2009. He then became honorary chairman of the body.[2]

From July 2003 to June 2005, he was president of UNICE, the umbrella organization of European industrial and employers' associations in Brussels (today: BusinessEurope). Among other things, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the chemical company Fuchs Petrolub in Mannheim as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Bertelsmann Grou and a member of the Advisory Board of the Bertelsmann Foundation.
