Education
Linder studied economics at the University of Zurich, the Sorbonne in Paris and the London School of Economics, and took his doctorate in Zurich in 1954.
Career
In 1954 he joined the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) as a business editor. In 1972 he became department head at the paper. During his time at the NZZ, he represented an economically liberal course. From 1971 to 1977 he was a private lecturer and then associate professor for Swiss economics at the University of Zurich.
