Max Kothbauer is an Austrian economist and banker, who since 2008 has been deputy central bank governor of the Austrian National Bank.[1] He was a member of the Bilderberg Steering committee.

Education

He has a Master of Social and Economic Sciences from the University of Vienna in 1975.

Career

Kothbauer has a background in both the banking industry and public administration, and has also previously worked at the National Bank of Austria. From 1976 to 1977 he worked at the Österreichische Länderbank, before going to the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, and worked there until 1978. He then worked again at the Österreichische Länderbank until 1984, before working two more years at the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Industry. From 1986 to 1988 he worked at the Chancellery (Kanzleramt), as chief of staff to the Chancellor of Austria.
