Yaya J. Fanusie is a US CIA and think tank "terrorism expert" working on sanctions, cryptocurrencies and CBDCs, who was an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the militarist pressure group Center for a New American Security (CNAS) when he visited the 2022 Bilderberg. He is part of the campaign against independent cryptocurrencies, claiming that "Terrorists are adapting to cryptocurrencies".[1][2]
“There's maybe an obscure issue, but one that has to be dealt with: the question of digital ID. That might be necessary to tackle; keeping ID private, but then enabling your ID to be used for different types of transactions. That would probably really help the rollout for a central bank digital currency.”

Education
Fanusie received an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and a BA in Economics from UC Berkeley.[4] He is a Muslim.[5]
Career
He started working for the CIA as an analyst on "counterterrorism" issues in 2005, working there until 2012. He moved to the defense contractor Command Consulting Group as a consultant in 2012.
He started at the think tank [Foundation For Defense of Democracies]] in January 2015, "producing research and analysis on the nexus between national security and cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and technological innovation," and 'sanctions and Illicit Finance."[4] He moved to another think tank, Center for a New American Security, in August 2019, while also working for [Cryptocurrency AML Strategies, LLC]].[6]
In August 2024, he became a fellow at the Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy, providing "analysis and policy discourse around digital assets and US national and economic security."[6]
His analyses focuses on the national security implications of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.[7]
He has testified before Congress multiple times on illicit financing issues and is a leading "expert" on China's CBDC.
He has appeared on CNN, Fox News, and has been quoted in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post, and blogs at Forbes,[4] while on he payroll of the the think tanks.
