Vasco Navarro da Graça Moura was a Portuguese lawyer, writer, translator and politician. He attended the 2001 Bilderberg meeting.
Education
Vasco Graça Moura studied law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and graduated in 1966.
Career
He practiced as a lawyer from 1966 to 1983. He has also been writing since 1963.
In 1975 he was twice state secretary in the provisional governments, as State Secretary for Social Security and later State Secretary for Foreign Sports, in 1978 he was briefly head of RTP, the national television channel of Portugal, from 1979 to 1989 he was head of the State Printing House Casa da Moeda and from 1989 to 1995 General Commissioner for the Age of Discoveries.
From 199 until 2009 he was a Member of the European Parliament[1] for the Social Democratic Party–People's Party coalition; part of the European People's Party–European Democrats group.
He was Library Director of the Cultural Foundation Calouste Gulbekian[2] from 1996 until 1999, and sat on the Advisory Board of the Luso-American Foundation for Development.
He died on 27 April 2014 at the age of 72, after a long battle against cancer.[3]
Family life
He married three times, firstly in 1964 to Maria Fernanda de Carvalho de Sá Dantas, secondly in 1985 to Clara Crabbé da Rocha (daughter of Miguel Torga) and thirdly in 1987 to Maria do Rosário Bandeira de Lima de Sousa Machado (b. c. 1951), former and first wife of António Carlos Guerra Raposo de Magalhães, who died in 2004).
