Nils Wilhjelm was a Danish landowner, politician (Conservative People's Party) and former minister. He was Minister of Industry in the Poul Schlüter I Government from 12 March 1986 to 10 September 1987, in the Poul Schlüter II Government from 10 September 1987 to 3 June 1988 and in the Poul Schlüter III Government from 3 June 1988 to 2 December 1989. 1987-89 he sat in the Folketing.

Early life

Wilhjelm was the son of a senior engineer, M.Sc. Erik Wilhelm (died 1981) and his wife Grete f. Kier (died 1981), became a student at Holte Gymnasium in 1955 and became a forestry candidate in 1963. He was then 1963-67 research assistant at the Agricultural University's forestry department and 1965-67 head of Bruun Madsen & Wilhjelm A/S. In 1966 he took over the estate Orenæs from his uncle, Otto Wilhjelm, and ran it until 1995.

Career

Throughout most of his career, Wilhjelm engaged in forestry and wood manufacturing. In 1967-68 he was a consultant for Crown Zellerbach Corp. USA, 1968-70 Executive Secretary for Junckers Sawmill and in 1970 became CEO of Junckers Industrier A/S and A/S Sylvadan, which he was until 1986.

After his time as Minister of Industry, he also became known as chairman of the Wilhjelm Committee, which the Nyrup government appointed in 2000 to investigate the state of nature in Denmark.

He was chamberlain, court huntsman and in 1998 became Commander of the 1st degree of Dannebrog. In addition, he was a board member of Incentive A / S (chairman 1980-1983), of Det Danske Trælastkompagni A/S (until 1983), of Junckers Industrier A/S (until 1983), director of Incentive A / S 1983-86, chairman for Industrirådet 1983-86, board member of Aage V. Jensen's Funds (until 2003), for Dampskibsselskabet af 1912 A / S (until 2003) and for Odense Staalskibsværft A / S (deputy chairman) and chairman of Fonden Femern Bælt Forum (until 2007) .

Married 1963 to Suzette Morville (b. 10 May 1936 in Frederiksværk). Wilhjelm was a philatelist.
