Jacques Baumel was a French Gaullist politician with deep state connections. He attended several Bilderberg meetings in the 1960s.[1] He was the “political father" of the French atomic bomb.[2]

Background

He completed his studies at the Thiers high school in Marseille. He studied medicine, following his father's path, but they were cut short by the Second World War.

Baumel took part in the Resistance by joining the Combat movement at the beginning of 1941. By 1943, he was secretary general of the United Resistance Movements (MUR) and met Jean Moulin several times. At the creation of the National Liberation Movement in January 1944, he was appointed with Pierre Hervé general secretary for the southern zone of this grouping.

Career

When he was Chairman of the Defence Committee of the WEU Assembly, wrote a report entitled "A European intelligence policy"[3].
