On 28 March 2023, the Scottish Parliament elected Humza Yousaf as First Minister of Scotland and his name will now be submitted to King Charles III, with a formal session to swear him in expected at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on 29 March 2023.[1]
As Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Humza Yousaf was seen as the establishment candidate in the 2023 Scottish National Party leadership election.[2]
As Transport Secretary he was fined £300 for driving without insurance.[3]
As Justice Secretary he expanded the hate crime law to crack down on "hate speech". This included creating a new offence of "intentionally stirring up hatred".[4]
