Alternative for Germany (German: Alternative for Deutschland) is a political party in Germany.

History

The AFD started as a new conservative political party in 2013 with a strong position against the Euro and arguments for why Germany shall leave the European currency union. When it had significant success in the first elections right after the formation, it was rebranded as "Nazis" by the German establishment. Like Die Linke, the AFD is monitored by German spooks and by 2025 moved into prime focus. In the 2021 German parliamentary election, they fell from third largest party to fifth place, but came in second in the 2025 German federal election. The Guardian wrote in early 2024 that the AFD can be banned by the German government.

Possible prohibition

On the occurrence of the reclassification of the AFD as a "confirmed right-wing extremist endeavor" by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution mid 2025, Peter Boehringer remarks:

"The decision to classify the AfD as a "confirmed right-wing extremist" was made by IM [Federal Minister of the Interior] Faeser, who was voted out of office, at the last minute - based on an expert opinion that was kept secret. "

As always. It is medieval. The accused is not told what he is actually accused of and why...

Such a process is an unprecedented abuse of state power. A government from which the voters have withdrawn their trust declares the largest opposition party to be an enemy of the state - and at the same time is refusing any transparency.

This no longer has anything to do with the protection of the constitution. This is an attempt to eliminate democratic competition using the means of intelligence agencies.

Not even the previous classification of the AfD as a “suspected case” by the VS is legally binding. Ms. Faeser wanted to present her successor with a fait accompli before he took office next Tuesday."

Criticism

Hansjörg Müller

Hansjörg Müller was Parliamentary Managing Director within the AfD parliamentary group from 2017 to 2019, then foreign trade spokesman. He was not selected by his party for the 2021 election, and retired from politics. After that, he claimed that party leader Alice Weidel is a representative of the AfD selected by the elites and that the AfD has been infiltrated by secret service agents in many places. He also criticized that only party members "towing the line" are selected as election candidates, to ensured that everyone just says yes to is decided from above. He also said that politicians are brought into line either by money or blackmail, and that no matter who is in power, "the system" always wins.

Georg Pazderski

Georg Pazderski is a retired German military officer and active as politician for the AfD. As one of three heads of an international planning group ("Combined Planning Group"), which was formed from about 30 staff officers from the partner countries of the occupation of Afghanistan, he worked from 2005 to 2010 under several commanders, including US General David Petraeus, who in 2011 became Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, at the headquarters of the United States Central Command in Florida.

Pazderski retired in 2012, for then immediately to become joining the AfD, becoming Managing Director from 2013 until 2015, playing a central role in the building and financing of the party. In May 2024, Pazderski resigned from the AfD, the party having moved "further and further" away from his political convictions.

2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine

In a historical vote in late April 2022 about "Comprehensive support for Ukraine", which mainly comes down to sending heavy weapons, machinery and ammunition to Ukraine in order to support the government of Zelensky, the members of the Bundestag overwhelmingly voted in favor for it. The bulk of the "no" votes came from the AFD and Die Linke.

Tino Chrupalla pointed out that the declaration reads like an accession to war and could make Germany a belligerent in a nuclear war. In principle it is in Germany's interest to maintain good relations with both Ukraine and Russia.

Mossad support

In 2018, the retired Mossad officer Rafi Eitan (known for his many false flag operations) appeared in a promotional video for the party. Eitan praised AfD for its efforts to mark Holocaust Memorial Day in a message posted online. A full speech by Eitan describes the party as a "great hope for many people."
