Alberto Nagel is an Italian banker who became Chief Executive Officer of Mediobanca in October 2008.[1] He attended the 2013 Bilderberg meeting.
Background
He was born to Ludovico Nagel, a lawyer native of Barletta with German origin. He has a sister, Erica Nagel.
After graduating in 1984 at the privates school Leo XIII Institute he enrolled in Business Administration at Bocconi University in Milan, where he graduated in 1990.
Career
Hired by Mediobanca in 1991, Alberto Nagel spent his entire career internally there, first at the Financial Service, then at the General Secretariat, for which he became responsible in 1997. With the evolution of Mediobanca's organizational structure, Alberto Nagel subsequently assumed responsibility for the Investment Banking division.
Alberto Nagel was appointed Official in April 1995, Central Director in February 1998, Deputy General Manager in April 2002 and General Manager in April 2003. In July 2007, Alberto Nagel was appointed Managing Director. In October 2008 he became CEO.[2] Privatization and M&A
In the 1990s he participated in some of the largest merger&acquisitions transactions carried out in Italy and took part in several privatizations, including those of Enel (1999), BNL (1998) and Finmeccanica (2000).[3][4][5]
Alberto Nagel led the expansion of Mediobanca's Corporate & Investment Banking in foreign markets (with non-domestic revenues of 40% in 2023 and expected to grow to 55% by 2026), which saw the opening of offices in Paris (2004), Luxembourg (2005), Frankfurt, Madrid and New York.
In 2016 Alberto Nagel presented to the financial community the three-year strategic plan for 2019. The plan foresees the acceleration of the development wealth management for very rich people.[6]
