Anders Thunborg was a Swedish politician, diplomat and deep state actor. A part of the stay behind Aktionsgruppen Arla Gryning (AGAG)[1][2] and an informant for he extra-constitutional intelligence agency IB., he attended two Bilderberg meetings in the 1980s, one before the assassination of Olof Palme, and one after.
Education
Anders Thunborg grew up on Södermalm in Stockholm. His father was a municipal worker and died early, Thunborg was raised by his mother who was a school caretaker. Thunborg became an elite motorcycle racer in speedway and in the early 1950s became Swedish champion. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science and Economics in 1958.[3]
Career
As Under secretary of defense at the foreign ministry[4], Thunborg dealt with arms sales to India in the 1970s. According to a US diplomatic cable, Thunborg was characterized by an unnamed source as part of the "Indian mafia" in Sweden, having acquired contacts in earlier days of activity in Swedish and international youth affairs.[5] He was Chairman of the Royal Swedish Defense Planning Commission in 1975.[6]
IB
Thunborg was an informant for the extra-constitutional intelligence agency IB. Before Thunborg died in 2004, he admitted that he had done assignments for IB when it came to foreign affairs but not people in Sweden. In addition, Olof Frånstedt, former head of Säpo's counterintelligence, revealed Thunborg, then international secretary of the Social Democrats, also was an IB-informant at the 1966 meeting when when famous Swedish journalists and writers formed the Swedish-Cuban Friendship Association.[7][8]
