History
The Global Panel Foundation was founded in 1989 by Dutch entrepreneur Bas Spuybroek. It has had its headquarters in Berlin since 1997 . Other locations include Copenhagen, New York City, Ohio, Prague, Sydney and Toronto. It finances its activities exclusively through donations from corporations, not directly from the government.
Work
Its goal is to promote international cooperation with regard to decision-making and implementation processes.
To this end, it organizes public policy luncheons and dinners, student forums[2] and initiatives. The purpose of these events is to offer their participants a framework for exchanging views on problems and procedural strategies for current social issues.

- Transatlantic Relations[3].
- Security, Energy and Environmental Issues in the Black Sea Region and the Middle East[4].
- Central Europe Monitoring
In addition to awarding grants and research funds, the Global Panel Foundation has presented the Hanno R. Ellenbogen Citizenship Award since 2000. This is awarded in cooperation with the Prague Society for International Cooperation to people for special social merits in Central and Eastern Europe. Previous winners have included Václav Havel] and the Belarusian opposition figure Alaksandar Milinkievič.

Staff
The Global Panel Foundation is chaired by Marc S. Ellenbogen.[5][6]/ In addition to his position as Chairman, Ellenbogen also sits on the Advisory Council of the US Democratic Party and is Vice-Chairman of the Democratic expat Leadership Council.
Vice-Chairman is Jürgen Chrobog, former State Secretary at the German Federal Foreign Office.[5]
