Activities

In 1979 he attended the Jerusalem Conference on International Terrorism, where he spoke on "Terrorism and the Gulag".

Deep political connections

He attended Le Cercle and the 1977, 1988 and 1993 Bilderberg. He was co-chair of the executive committee of the Committee on the Present Danger.[1]

Awards

On November 13, 1989, Kirkland was presented with the Presidential Citizens Medal by George H. W. Bush. In 1994, Kirkland was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Bill Clinton. In 1999, Lane Kirkland was awarded the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom.
