Thorn wrote a working paper for the item Obstacles to Effective Coordination of Western Policies at the 1981 Bilderberg.^[1]

In 1981, chief of staff for Gaston Thorn was Fernand Spaak, reportedly assassinated by his ex-wife who then killed herself.^[2]
