Army Career

In 1941 he was transferred to the the Special Operations Executive.

Yemen

Following a Nasserite coup in Yemen in September 1962, Julian Amery (also a member of Le Cercle) met with King Hussein of Jordan and agreed to send McLean to report on the situation.[1] In late March 1963, Amery met with Neil McLean, David Stirling, Col Brian Franks and Alec Douglas-Home to organise an unofficial mercenary operation.[2]

He is on three of the four known guest lists of Le Cercle, from 1983-1985.[3][4][5]
