Björn Folke Rosengren is a Swedish trade unionist and social democratic politician. He was chairman of the union TCO from 1982 to 1994, county governor of Norrbotten county from 1995 to 1998. He was Minister for Enterprise from 1998 to 2002, and attended the 1999 Bilderberg meeting.
Career
Rosengren chaired the Swedish Association of Municipal Employees (SKTF) from 1976 to 1982 and the union TCO from 1982 to 1994. He had to leave TCO because of a visit to the porn club Tabu four years earlier.[1]
Rosengren was appointed county governor of Norrbotten county from 1995 to 1998.
He was appointed Acting Minister of Labour, Minister of Communications, Minister of economic affairs and Minister of foreign trade in 1998. When the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Labour were merged with the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 1998, he became head of the new super-ministry. As Minister of economic affairs, he was responsible until 2002 for labour market, communications, economic affairs, energy, regional policy and IT issues. In connection with the 2002 elections, Rosengren became an MP, but he left parliament on 21 October 2002, [2] after having announced a week earlier that he was leaving all his political assignments.[3]
After his term as minister, he became an advisor to the Stenbeck family sphere (the investment company Kinnevik with digital consumer businesses). Rosengren is thus one of the few Swedes who have worked at the top level in politics, the trade union movement, government administration and then, in a revolving door, as business advisor.
Since 2014 Rosengren was chairman of the Norwegian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce,[4] the organization's mission is to attract Norwegian investors to Sweden.[5]
Rosengren sits as chairman of the board and board member of several companies in various industries.[6][7]
