Ahmet Ünal Çevikoz is a Turkish diplomat and former Turkish ambassador to the UK. He attended the Bilderberg for the first time in 2019.
Background
Ceviköz graduated from Kadıköy Maarif College in 1970, Boğaziçi University (English language and Literature in 1974, political science in 1978), he started work for the Turkish Foreign Ministry in the same year. He completed his master's degree (MA) program at the University of Brussels in 1993 and received an MA in international relations.
Career
Until 1980, after work at the Turkish Embassy in Moscow he was consul at the Consulate General of Bregenz. In 1986, he returned to HQ and was appointed as the head of the Eastern European Office, Later was appointed as Undersecretary of the Sofia Embassy.
In 1989 he left his post at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and started his office as an international officer at NATO, first in the Directorate of Economics and then at the Political directorate. In 1994, he established NATO's Information Bureau in Moscow. He prepared the NATO-Russia founding stock between 1994-1997 and 2004, and in 1997 he was appointed as deputy general manager of the Caucasus and Central Asia in 1998 after he was the head of the Balkan office for one year in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Started.
In 2001, he was appointed as Turkey's Ambassador to Azerbaijan until 2004, when he was appointed Ambassador to Iraq. He survived an assassination attempt in Baghdad in 2006. From 2007 to 2010, he worked as deputy undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 1998, he has played an important role in the efforts and activities to normalise relations between Turkey and Armenia, and "establishing diplomatic relations" between Turkey and Armenia in Zurich on 10 October 2009 The two protocols related to normalization.
