Ranko Vilović (born in Zagreb ) is a Croatian lawyer and diplomat.

Career

He studied law at the University of Zagreb from 1975 to 1980. After completing his studies, he began to work as a lawyer and from 1980 to 1985 he was a member of the Zagreb City Council. From 1982 to 1985 he completed courses in maritime and international law in Halifax and The Hague, and from 1985 to 1987 postgraduate studies in international law and international relations in Zagreb.

Vilović began his diplomatic service in the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 as head of the Consular Affairs Department. From 1992 to 2002, posts abroad took him to Bern, Zurich and Vienna. From 2009 to 2013 Vilović was Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to the United Nations in New York. From September 2013 to October 2017 he was Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Berlin. His successor in this post is Gordan Grlić Radman.

Ranko Vilović is married with two children and speaks Croatian, German, English and French.
