Background

Matthijs van Bonzel went to school in Amersfoort, Netherlands. After passing a degree from Utrecht University in 1980, he went to the University of Michigan Law School where he was awarded an LLM in International Economic and Business Law in 1981.

Career

Diplomat. Although he already arrived in Bucharest, Romania in December 2011, he was only able to present his credentials to the then President Basescu in May 2012, in which the Dutch attitude towards the Romanian accession to Schengen played a role in the background.
