Jay Inslee is a US politician who has been Governor of Washington State since January 16, 2013. Inslee was a prospective candidate in the US/2020 Presidential election, focusing on the "climate change" agenda.

As governor of Washington State during Covid-19, he introduced lockdowns ("stay-at-home orders"); started preparing for concentration camps internments[1], encouraged snitching on neighbors[2], introduced segregation in public venues[3], and enforced mandatory jabs for public employees to keep their jobs, firing many who refused after decades of service.[4][5]

Education

Jay Inslee attended Ingraham High School until 1969. He then studied at Stanford University in California in 1969 and 1970, but dropped out because he was unable to get a scholarship, and then at the University of Washington until 1972. After studying law at Willamette University in Oregon and being admitted to the bar in 1976, he began working in his new profession. Between 1976 and 1984, Inslee was the legal representative for the City of Selah.

Career

Inslee joined the Democratic Party. He was a representative in the state Washington House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992. In the 1992 congressional elections, he was elected to the federal US House of Representatives in Washington DC in his state's fourth constituency, succeeding Republican Sid Morrison on January 3, 1993. Defeated in 1994, he was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1995. In 1996, Inslee unsuccessfully sought his party's nomination for gubernatorial election. Between 1997 and 1998 he was regional head of department US Department of Health and Human Services.

In 1998, Inslee was re-elected to Congress in the 1st District of Washington. There he replaced Rick White on January 3, 1999. In Congress, Inslee was considered progressive; he was a staunch opponent of the 2003 Iraq War. He was a member of the Energy and Trade Committee and the Committee on Natural Resources. He was also represented on two subcommittees. He has been married to Trudi Inslee since 1972, with whom he has three sons.

On March 20, 2012, he resigned his seat to pursue his candidacy for governor of Washington State. Inslee narrowly won the election, which took place in early November 2012, winning around 51 percent of the vote.

In February 2014, Inslee imposed a moratorium on the use of the death penalty in Washington State.[6]

On November 8, 2016, Inslee again won the gubernatorial election in Washington by a clear margin. In January 2017, he was then able to start a second term of office.[7]

In June 2017, the governor sharply criticized the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Agreement on global climate protection announced by US President Donald Trump. At the same time, he announced a continuation and intensification of his state's efforts to combat "climate change". Washington also joined an alliance for climate protection from other states. These include the also Democratic party governed states of California, New York and Virginia. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, also joined the coalition.[8]

On March 1, 2019, Inslee announced his candidacy to run in the 2020 United States Presidential Election, saying he would focus on combating climate change[9] In August, he ended his candidacy and decided to seek another term as governor.[10] In November 2020, he was re-elected with 56.6% of the vote.[11]
