Chresten William Reves a Danish business executive who was CEO of Det Berlingske Officin, the corporation owning the newspaper Berlingske Tidende.
Career
Reves came to the media world as executive secretary of the Danish press's joint purchasing Association in 1965. He then became director of the newspaper Aalborg Stiftstidende. Here, he caught the eye of Berlingske's Chairman Ole Scherfig, and from 1982 and 15 years on, he was the company's CEO. The company experienced economical difficulties and was saved by an investment from Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller. Reves thus came to play a key role in the rescue of the publishing house, and managed to turn losses to profit.[1]
Reves held several organizational positions within the newspaper world, including as chairman of Dagspressens Financierinstitut, but he was also chairman of the Board of the School of physiotherapy, as well as he sat on a media committee established by the prime minister from 1994 to 1996.
He died after several years of illness.[2]
