Husam Zomlot is Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the United Kingdom. He was formerly Ambassdor to the United States.[1]

December 2023

On 1 December 2023, in an interview with Krishnan Guru-Murthy on UK Channel 4's The Fourcast, Ambassador Husam Zomlot talks about the current Israeli aggression on Gaza and explains how what is happening is part of a general plan for the disposession and dispersal of the Palestinian people.[2]

April 2024

On 18 April 2024, Husam Zomlot posted on X:

"How is this rogue state Israel allowed to present the West with two choices: either get dragged in to a regional war or continue being complicit in genocide.
"On @Channel4News this evening ahead of a UN Security Council vote on admitting Palestine as a member state."[3]

October 2024

Husam Zomlot slams Israel's UNRWA ban

On 29 October 2024, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the UK, Husam Zomlot, condemned the vote by the Israeli Knesset which passed two laws banning UNRWA from operating inside Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory.[4] Interviewed by Andrew Marr,[5] Ambassador Zomlot said inter alia:

"UNRWA’s presence and operations are based on an agreement between the State of Palestine and the UN.
"Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied State of Palestine, including East Jerusalem, and has no right to ban the UN organisation."[6]

US veto

The United States vetoed a draft resolution at the UN Security Council which recommended granting the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations.

The veto on Thursday by Israel’s main political and military backer had been expected ahead of the vote. Twelve countries voted in favour of the resolution, which was introduced by Algeria, while the United Kingdom and Switzerland abstained.[7]

Speech at the Union Chapel

On 18 April 2024, Husam Zomlot spoke at Sumud, a fundraising event for Palestine at the Union Chapel, Islington in London.[8]
