Dietrich Karner is an Austrian insurance executive who worked for Erste Allgemeine Versicherung, which merged with Generali, for 41 years, until 2004.[1]
He attended the 1996 Bilderberg meeting.
Early life
Dietrich Karner was born in Rome on January 31, 1939. After finishing school in Bregenz and Meran, he studied law in Florence and Rome, where he completed his his doctorate in 1962.[2]
Career
After his studies he received a scholarship from Generali and spent time at Erste Allgemeine Versicherung in Vienna, for which he also worked in Munich between 1965 and 1967. In 1968 he was appointed to the central management of Generali in Trieste, where he took over the management of the group's international department. He has headed Generali Holding Vienna AG since 1986.
