Françoise Sampermans is French media executive and "a woman of influence"[1] who attended the 1995 Bilderberg meeting.
In 2012 when she was elected to director of a charity, Le Croix wrote that "Françoise Sampermans will play a protective role by activating the precious contacts in her address book, thickened during a long career as a lobbyist. 'I am lucky to have kept very good contacts wherever I worked, in the media, political parties, whatever they are, or in the business community.'"[1]
Career
From 1974 to 1987, Françoise Sampermans assumed responsibilities in the field of communication within the Alcatel Group (Telecom). She then became director of communication for the Alcatel-Alsthom group, from 1987 to 1991. She took over as general manager of Générale Occidentale, an Alcatel subsidiary holding the the media L'Express group and a 40% stake in Le Point, becoming CEO of L'Express and Le Point, and director of CEP Communication (1991-1995)[2].
After her departure from Alcatel, Françoise Sampermans was appointed Vice-president for Europe of the Quebecor group, which then printed L'Express.
Jean-François Kahn, whom she has known since the time when she was in charge of Alcatel's communication, then offered her the position of general manager of the magazines Marianne and l'Événement du jeudi[3]. She then became managing director of Nouvel Économiste thanks to her friendships with Paul Dubrule and Gérard Pélisson, co-founders of the Accor group who bought the entire capital from Georges Ghosn and Fimmopresse.
In 2000, she became director general of publications within the media distribution corporation NMPP, which at the time distributed 100 newspapers and 3,500 French and foreign magazines.
In 2004, Sampermans accompanied Ivan Levaï in the relaunch of the Tribune juive (Jewish Tribune), a title that disappeared from the newsstands in 2003.
In 2008, she succeeded François Léotard as president of the association for the promotion of the Château de Vincennes[4].
In June 2009, she became secretary general of the association launched by Rachida Dati, C'est à vous ("It's up to you"), whose declared goal is to "promote citizenship but not only locally"[5].
On April 6, 2012, Sampermans was elected President of the charity France Générosités for a first term of 3 years and renewed in 2015 for a second term.[6]
In 2018, she joined the IDEAS Institute, a rater of governance in NGOs, in an administrative function.[7]
