Gillian Troughton is the Blairite Labour Party candidate who stood in the 2017 Copeland by-election and was defeated by the Conservative Trudy Harrison.[1]

She had been selected by the Blairite Copeland Constituency Labour Party to succeed the Blairite Jamie Reed who resigned on 21 December 2016, thus triggering the by-election.[2]

On 4 May 2017, Gill Troughton unsuccessfully stood as Labour candidate for the Howgate division in the Cumbria County Council elections.[3]

At the UK/2017 General Election on 8th June, Gill Troughton is again standing as the Labour candidate for Copeland.[4]
