Billy "Neil" McLean was a member of the Special Operations Executive in World War II who attended several meetings of Le Cercle during the 1980s.

Army Career

In 1941 he was transferred to the the Special Operations Executive.

Yemen

Following a Nasserite coup in Yemen in September 1962, Julian Amery (also a member of Le Cercle) met with King Hussein of Jordan and agreed to send McLean to report on the situation.[1] In late March 1963, Amery met with Neil McLean, David Stirling, Col Brian Franks and Alec Douglas-Home to organise an unofficial mercenary operation.[2]
