Graeme Maxton is a British economist. From 2014 to 2018 he was General Secretary of the Club of Rome.
Background
Maxton is related to two prominent politicians in Scotland's Independent Labor Party - James Maxton (1885–1946), a leading figure of the Red Clydeside era and Member of the House of Lords, and [[[John Maxton|John Maxton, Baron Maxton]] (born 1936), Member of the House of Lords since 2004.
After completing his studies, he worked from 1988 to 2002 as a visiting professor at the Cass Business School in London. He also worked for the military-industrial complex consultancy firm Booz Allen Hamilton, for Citigroup and American Express. By 2007 he was Regional Director of The Economist Group based in Hong Kong. In 2013, Maxton became a full member of the think tank Club of Rome, based in Winterthur, Switzerland The following year he was elected Secretary General at the General Assembly of that institution in Mexico.
In 2016 he was involved in the capitalism tribunal organized by the Berlin project Haus Bartleby in Vienna.
