Yavuz Canevi is a Turkish bureaucrat who was the Governor of the Turkish Central Bank between 1984 and 1986 and Undersecretary of the Treasury and Foreign Trade from 1986 until February 1, 1989.

Education

Canevi graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Finance and Economics in 1960. he completed his master's degree at the University of Southern California in 1969 on the subject of "Economic Development". He went to Belgium on in 1971 by taking advantage of a NATO research scholarship, completed doctoral studies at Georgia State University in the USA in 1972-1974, and returned to his homeland in 1974.[1]

Career

He has worked in various public and private institutions at home and abroad. He was Special Advisor to the Minister of Finance (1975-1976), General Directorate of Foreign Exchange of the Central Bank (1976-1979), Deputy General Manager of the private Garanti Bank (1979-1980), and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank (1981-1984).[2][3]

He was the Governor of the Central Bank between 1984 and 1986. He retired from the post of Undersecretary of Treasury and Foreign Trade in 1989. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Yeditepe University. He is also a member of the board of directors of TEB, the Turkish Economic Bank.

He was Secretary of the High Advisory Council of TUSIAD and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Forum Istanbul.[4]
