Floris Anton Maijers was a Dutch business executive and mentor for Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.[1] He attended the 1988 Bilderberg, and 1993 Bilderberg as Chairman of the Board of Unilever.

Education

Floris Maljers grew up in Middelburg and studied economics at the University of Amsterdam.

Career

He did an internship in the Marketing Department of Lever's Soap, and then made a career there. He worked for other Unilever companies in Colombia and Turkey. He was director of the edible fats (margarine) division in Rotterdam for eight years.

In 1974, he joined the Board of Directors of Unilever. Ten years later, Maljers became the chairman of the board, which he would remain until 1994.[2] under his leadership, Unilever focused on four core products: food, detergents, toiletries and specialty chemicals. Activities that did not fit here were sold.[3]

Maljers became a board member at various companies such as KLM, Philips, Vendex and ABN AMRO and was part of the Supervisory Board of the University Medical Center Utrecht, The Royal Concertgebouw and the National Museum of Antiquities. He was Professor of Business Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

He was regularly engaged by ministries for assignments. At the request of Minister Hans Wijers, Maljers was involved in the attempt to save aircraft manufacturer Fokker from ruin, and he chaired the committee that investigated alternatives to submerging the Hedwig Polder in 2006.

As a mentor, Maljers accompanied Crown Prince Willem-Alexander on his introduction to the business world.[3]
