Paul Hermelin grew up in Avignon, France[1]. He did his preparatory classes at the Lycée Saint-Louis and joined the École polytechnique, graduated in 1972. He graduated from ENA in 1976. Career
Paul Hermelin began his career at the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, in the cabinet of Jacques Delors[2]. He became director of cabinet of Dominique Strauss-Kahn when he was appointed Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade in 1991. He is presented by the magazine Marianne as a "figure of the left, member of the PS, former chief of staff of Dominique Strauss-Kahn and close to François Hollande".[3]
In 1993, he joined the Capgemini group, and became CEO of Capgemini France in 1996, obtaining a place on the company's management board. In May 2000, he is at the origin of the merger between Cap Gemini and Ernst & Young Consulting and on this occasion becomes Deputy CEO of the Group. In december 2001 he became CEO of Capgemini, a company with a turnover of 9.7 billion (in 2011) and in May 2012, he becomes Chairman and CEO of the Group.
On May 20, 2020, Paul Hermelin gave way to Aiman Ezzat as Managing Director. At the end of the General Meeting, he retains the chairmanship of the board of directors within the framework of the separation of the functions of chairman and chief executive officer.[4]
