Background
Jungen grew up in Aachen and studied economics at the University of Cologne, with an exchange year at the Cleveland State University he went into business. In 1966 he became a personal assistant to the industrialist Otto Wolff von Amerongen and in 1984 he joined the board of Otto-Wolff-Konzern.

Jungen is a partner of Peter Jungen Holding and is active in the "New Economy", among other things with a leading price comparison platform. He is co-founder of numerous business associations and a member of several supervisory and advisory boards. He was a president of the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Union.
