Peter Lee is an American computer scientist. Having previously worked for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency he went on to work for Bill Gates as head of Microsoft Research, especially working on AI to take over the "healthcare' industry. He attended the 2024 Bilderberg meeting.
I use the word infected because, of course, one area that has had a special place within Microsoft Research over the last few years has been in areas related to health care and medicine. And in fact, we saw early on the potential impact that GPT-4 would have in health care and medicine...And we had already in place a Microsoft Research lab called Health Futures that had been working on large language models for the purposes of creating knowledge bases and supporting decisions in clinical settings,...And we've furthermore been able to work with the Global Health Drug Discovery Institute in very rapidly discovering new inhibitors that may form the foundation of new drug treatments for diseases such as tuberculosis and coronaviruses.[1]

Lee received his PhD degree from the University of Michigan in May 1987.[2]
Activities
He was Department Head for Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University from to 2007 to August 2009, then Director of the Transformational Convergence Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) from August 2009 to September 2010.[3]

He became president of Microsoft Research in 2010, working on lines of business in areas such as artificial intelligence, computing foundations, health, and life sciences.[4]
Lee is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and serves on the Boards of Directors of several institutes for the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the Brotman Baty Institute for Precision Medicine, and the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. He served on President Obama's Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity and led studies for PCAST and the National Academies. He has testified before both the US House Science and Technology Committee and the US Senate Commerce Committee.[5]
