Gerrit Wagner studied law at Leiden University.

Career

In 1946 Wagner joined the Royal Dutch/Shell Group. From 1959 to 1961 he was vice-president of the Compaia Shell de Venezuela, and from 1961 to 1964 its president. In 1964 he returned to the Netherlands as General Manager of N.V. Koninklijke Nederlandsche Petroleum Maatschappij, Shell Petroleum Co. He has also been Ceo of Shell Petroleum Co. since 1964, President of Royal Dutch Petroleum Co. since 1971, Director of Shell Oil, Chairman of shell Oil Co. since 1972, and Director of Shell Canada Ltd. since 1971.
