Seveso Chemical Accident

The notorious Seveso disaster was an industrial accident that occurred on July 10, 1976, in a chemical manufacturing plant owned by La Roche, approximately 20 kilometres north of Milan in the Lombardy region of Italy. The incident resulted in the highest known exposure to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) in residential populations.
