He attended the 1993 Bilderberg meeting, possibly in relation to Finland's negotiations to join the EU.

Career

Koroma is a social influencer who "has extensive and diverse experience in social decision-making and its effects on citizens' opinions and well-being, as well as on business and economic growth"[1]. He is also a long-time journalist and editor

Koroma worked as head of department at the financial editorial board of Helsingin Sanomat from 1965 to 1974, when the development of financial journalism began.[2] Koroma was the editor-in-chief of Uusi Suomi (New Finland) for thirteen years. At the same time, an additional edition of the magazine, Iltalehti, was established.

During the Cold War period Uusi Suomi was among the Finnish newspapers which were accused by the Soviet Union of being the instrument of US propaganda, and the Soviet Embassy in Helsinki frequently protested the editors of the paper.[3]

Koroma was appointed secretary-general of the Central Committee of Industry in 1989 and vice-president of the Finnish Employers' Federation and the Confederation of Finnish Industries on 1 April 1989, as well as managing director of both federations from 1 March 1992. He prepared the work of merging the new union, when the Confederation of Finnish Industry and the Confederation of Finnish Employers were merged into a new organization, Confederation of Finnish Industries. He was then appointed as the first CEO of this new confederation, which has been in operation since 1993. Koroma was TT's representative in the EU membership negotiations in the early 1990s. He retired at the age of 60 and works in various social roles, as a columnist and speaker.

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen granted Koroma the title of consul general in 2009.[2]
