Richard Socher is Chief Scientist at Salesforce where he leads the company’s research efforts and works on bringing artificial intelligence solutions to Salesforce.
He was selected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2017.[1]
Career
Prior to Salesforce, Socher was adjunct professor at the Stanford Computer Science Department where he obtained his PhD working on deep learning with Chris Manning and Andrew Ng. He did a Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship in 2012. He won the best Stanford CS PhD thesis award in 2014.[2]
He then founded MetaMind, a startup acquired by Salesforce in April 2016. MetaMind’s deep learning AI platform analyzes, labels and makes predictions on image and text data.
In 2021 Socher became CEo of You.com, as search engine startup looking to challenge Alphabet Inc's Google, seeing an opening on antitrust issues. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff put $20 million dollar into the company, including giving it the domain name, which he has owned since the 1990s.[3]
