Peter Eric James Prentice was a Canadian politician and 16th premier of Alberta from 2014 to 2015.

He was a member of the Trilateral Commission.

Death

Prentice died in a plane crash on Oct. 13, 2016 that also took the lives of his friends Dr. Ken Gellatly, businessman Sheldon Reid, and pilot Jim Kruk. The Cessna Citation jet disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff from Kelowna, B.C., on its way to the Springbank airport west of Calgary

The lack of cockpit voice recorder or a flight data recorder prevented the Transportation Safety Board of Canada from definitively concluding what caused the plane crash, "but the pilot was probably disoriented due to a heavy workload at the controls", investigators said. The investigation revealed that the plane's climb rate changed rapidly several times within 30 seconds just before it went down.
