Henrik Topsøe was a Danish engineer and former deputy director and chairman of the board of the chemical company Haldor Topsøe.[1] He attended the 2014 Bilderberg meeting.

Education

Henrik Topsøe graduated as a chemical engineer at the Engineering Academy in Copenhagen (the present-day Technical University of Denmark) in 1967. He then received a Ph.d. at Stanford University in the United States

Career

In 1974 he joined the laboratory of his father's company Haldor Topsøe. In 1986 he joined the company's top management, and in 1992 he became head of the research and development department, and the following year he joined the board of directors.[2][3] in 2012 he became vice chairman of the board, and in 2013 after the death of his father, age 100, chairman. In 2016, he resigned as chairman of the board because of his cancer, but continued as a member of the board's Innovation Committee.

In a 1998 study, Topsøe was mentioned as the most cited industrial researcher in the field of catalysis, and two years later he received the François Gault Lectureship Award as the first industrial researcher.[4] In 2008 he became Deputy Director of Haldor Topsøe A/s and in 2012 he became deputy chairman of the board.[2]

In his career he published more than 180 scientific papers[2] and was a member of several scientific societies such as the Chemical Society, The Danish Physical Society, the Engineering Society of Denmark, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society.
