Education
Norbert Zimmermann studied world trade at the Vienna University of Economics and Business from 1967 to 1971.
Career
After graduating, Zimmermann first started working as a systems engineer and customer consultant at [[IBM] Vienna in 1971.[2][3] His further career path led him through management tasks at Spar Österreichische Warenhandels-AG and Böhm GmbH to the management of the nationalized steel company Berndorfer Metallwarenfabrik in 1986.
In 1988, as part of a management buy-out, Zimmermann acquired a majority stake in the company, which subsequently operated as Berndorf AG. Norbert Zimmermann transformed the Group of companies into an international technology conglomerate until his retirement from operational responsibility as CEO in 2008. As of 2020, he is the main shareholder of Berndorf AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Schoeller-Bleckmann Oilfield Equipment AG.
His daughter Sonja Zimmermann took over the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board of Berndorf AG from him in 2020.
